Paige Frodsham - Owner
Paige started consistently taking riding lessons and doing endless summer camps when she was 5 years old and cultivated a strong passion for horses very early on. She is the human face behind Avalon Acres Equestrian Centre, accompanied by the horsey face behind the business, Ava. Paige is a lot of things. A hunter, jumper, dressage rider, a horse listener, a horse trainer, a coach, a student of the horse, and many other things Ava is the name, face, and reason behind our stable, our life. Ava was Paige’s first horse. She taught Paige many things about competing, training, health, horse ownership, horsemanship, rehabilitation, and so much more than what could meet the eye. In 2017 she had a severe case of laminitis and founder that required many months, almost a year, of stall rest and around the clock care. After very diligent care she had a great recovery and lived a good life with consistent monitoring. In the fall of 2021 there was an unexpected turn with her that lead to her passing. She lived a very full, loving, and comfortable life with Paige. Ava's soul lives on in the stable and through everything we do for the horses. In the fall of 2020 Paige had been in a sever car accident that could have ended very differently. The accident lead to a sever concussion, third level whip lash, and many other alignments that are all apart of the daily routine to manage. Instead of seeing the negative from the experience, Paige turned this into learning something new. As difficult as it can be most days it has shown Paige a new world of working with horses that isn’t only from their backs, but also the ground. Paige took the opportunity of not being able to ride competitively to learn more about the horse, different training modalities to work with many different personalities of horses and people, and different rehabilitation methods to support, heal, and gain more learning experiences. Paige takes every opportunity she can to learn. Paige has competed in all the levels from schooling through to the A circuit, including the Ottawa Equestrian Tournaments, The Great New York State Fair in Syracuse, New York, a qualifier for Pony Finals in Kentucky, and many other competitions. Paige continuously searches out seminars, clinics, and courses to further her knowledge of training techniques, equine care, and coaching principles. Paige participated in clinics with Jessica Phoenix, focusing on stadium jumping and cross-country, several hunter/jumper clinics with Gritts McMullan, and many lessons with Jeff McKessock, owner of Westar Farms. A highlight in Paige's education was living and training with Eve Mainwaring, of St. Albans Stables in Brockville, former owner of Big Ben! Paige’s love for all things equine has driven her to complete many things and will continue her accreditations and learning throughout her career. Paige wants her love for horses to be supported with education and experience. Paige has completed the training in the following courses:
Paige has also completed the following certifications:
Paige’s education never takes a break. Looking for the best, healthiest, and most natural ways to help horses rest, recover, heal, and preform. Paige has also taken an interest in natural remedies and holistic healing with horses, such as using essential oils, PEMF, physical therapy, craniosacral therapy, massage therapy, and various types of therapies to help improve comfort, health, and performance. Paige look into the cause of everything with the horses, not just managing the symptoms. Paige has done rehabilitation work with horses recovering from various injuries and illnesses such as founder, laminitis, abscesses, tendon & ligament injuries, sprains/strains, fractures, arthritis, lymphangitis, celulitis, severe hoof cracks, and much more. Paige enjoys the research and investigating with horses and seeing the horse improve with true work being done for them. Paige has also furthered the training of many horses and ponies in hunters, jumpers, and dressage allowing the horse to progress further in competition and/or help with the owner enjoying their time more with their equine companion. Paige understands that all riders and horses learn differently and is able to cater to what each human and equine requires. Paige's love and care for horses are evident in the relationship she has with her horses Garry, Penny, Atticus, Whim, Charming & Maizzee. Her infectious desire to care for and work with horses has made her the confident young woman she is today and invites you to Avalon Acres Equestrian to experience this love of all things equine. |
